Description

The Explorer is a flat bottom, open top kayak designed to effortlessly carve through calm, flat water. It's design makes it ideal for people who are looking for fun on rivers, lakes and flat waters and is suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. We have made the newest model slightly wider making it more stable than ever. The Explorer comes with luggage straps at the front and rear so it has plenty of room for dry bags and gear for your day on the water.

Just like the Optimal, the Explorer is inflatable but designed to feel just like a solid kayak with no compromise in performance. What’s more, it is more affordable than the equivalent hard kayaks on the market.

The Explorer comes with a removable seat, 4-piece paddle, wheel bag as well as a removable skeg to add speed and stability. Following feedback from our original models these accessories have been upgraded for greater comfort and performance, The explorer is available as a single or double seater.

NEW UPGRADE AVAILABLE: Upgrade to a 4 piece fibreglass paddle for just £50.00

Good quality inflatable kayak

Purchased the Explorer on the 27.08.24 and it arrived the next day. Exceptional service. The quality is of the same standard as the Optimal, however, the seat is of a better quality and I have found it very comfortable. Added carry handles along the side of the kayak make it easier for lifting. The carry sack is plenty big enough with room for all your accessories. The paddle is pretty robust, although I have my own paddle. The kayak tracks well and moves at about the same speed as the Optimal and is very stable. The drainage plug at the end of the kayak is useful as the kayak does take water on board. Overall, very pleased with the kayak and Sandbanks service.

What a boat!!

What can I say about this kayak? It's considerably more stable than I was expecting. Tracks well even without the skeg (I've found myself not using the skeg very often at all, makes launching and shallow waters easier!) build quality is fantastic too.

I've had a couple of friends test it out too and they were equally impressed. It's not too heavy either (sure feels lighter then the optimal?) it inflated easily and fairly quick.
I can't comment on the included paddle or seat as I use my own, but they appear to be better quality than the competitors "accessories"

Just need to somehow improve my ability to fully dry it out. Water gets trapped in the front and back rigid nose cones! But I'm sure I'll find a way around that (there is a handy drain bung but not all the water comes out!)

Really looking forward to using it more frequently in the future.

10/10 from me, sandbanks delivered it in record time too!

Excellent

What a piece of kit. I was struggling with my paddling pastime due to a shoulder injury so wanted to make it more accessible for me. This lighter, faster, more efficient through the water by a long long way and the included paddle is just excellent, making the whole package just on a different level

Explorer single seater kayak (red)

I’m impressed with the design, the build quality, around 10 minutes to ready to set and into the water. In the water it’s very impressive for an inflatable. Since using the kayak for the past 2 weeks around 5 people have stopped and asked about it and are now on the verge of buying one! The only bug I have is that the wheels on the wheel bag need to be bigger as sand shingle stone clog the wheels up.

Delivers all that it promises

This kayak promises a lot and delivers. Easy to inflate, of a solid construction and stable on the water, it's ideal for recreational kayaking....and keeping fit.
It really does take about 10 minutes to set up and is light enough to carry to the water. Perfect for a float down the River Wye after work or in the mists of an early morning.
When the fin is on, it is a very direct paddle, but it can cause problems if wanting to beach it or travel through thick weed, which it seems to like collecting. I've been using it without the fin and it still keeps it's line without much effort.
I could have sold a number of these because it always seems to gather interest, especially by SUPers. On the river tonight, a man on an SUP paddled across and asked me where I bought it from because he wanted one.
It does take a knack to fold it up but, after 10 trips, I'm beginning to figure out the technique.
I think that it needs a more substantial paddle and will be saving up for one.
Otherwise, it's great.
